The 2021 college football season is just around the corner and many of the usual contenders are back for another run at winning it all. Alabama is the favorite at Caesars Sportsbook at +260 (risk $100 to win $260) in the 2022 college football national championship odds to hoist the trophy at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis in January. Other favorites include Clemson (+400), national runner-up Ohio State +600 and Georgia and Oklahoma at +750.

Although Alabama is the odds-on favorite to repeat as national champions at +260, Hunt is fading the Crimson Tide. He notes that Alabama is loaded with talent, as always, but it’s risky to back Alabama to win it all with an unproven quarterback in Bryce Young.
Young won’t be the only new face in the offensive huddle. Alabama is replacing three starters on the offense line, as well as first-round picks at receiver DeVonta Smith and Jaylen Waddle. Running back Najee Harris was also selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Defense is Nick Saban’s speciality, but the Tide looked human at times on that side of the ball last season.
“There are just too many concerns for the Crimson Tide, combined with the amount of returning talent others in the SEC have, to feel confident that they’ll make it through the season unscathed and win the national championship,” Hunt told SportsLine.
