Power Book II: Ghost is not going anywhere, as it’s been renewed for yet another season. More than a month before the show’s season 3 debut, Starz revealed that it gave the popular series the greenlight for a fourth season, which has already begun production in New York. Michael Ealy will join the cast as a series regular, taking on the role of Detective Don Carter.
According to a press release, Carter’s a rising NYPD officer whose journey to becoming police commissioner was interrupted when his wife was killed in a cross fire between gangs. Hoping to make the streets safer, he runs an elite drug task force that’s gotten “concrete results against drug related violence.”
“The high-octane drama of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ continues to resonate with our viewers and we’re thrilled to get season four production underway ahead of our season three debut,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming for STARZ. “It’s clear our fans are ready to devour more of this explosive series and we look forward to having Michael join our incredible cast.”
Season 3 of Power Book II: Ghost will premiere on Friday, March 17.
