LL Cool J is returning to music.

After 14 seasons starring in NCIS: LA, the Rock & Roll Roll of Famer is planning his first new album in 10 years.

Two weeks ago, it was announced that the TV series’ final episode will air Sunday, May 14. Now the rapper says he will release new music this year, working with another hip-hop legend, Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest.

“I think Q-Tip did a phenomenal job,” LL told Entertainment Tonight. “The work that Q-Tip did on the record and the music is crazy.”

This will be the 14th album released by the 55-year-old entertainer, whose previous album, Authentic, dropped in 2013.

Since then, LL has focused on starring as Senior Special Agent Sam Hanna in NCIS:LA.

“It’s been an amazing run. We talking about 14 years. We not talking about 2 1/2, three years and, ‘Oh it was fun while it lasted.’ This was 14 years,” he said.

Sunday night, the iconic rapper introduced the Grammy Awards tribute to the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.

“I think it’s multigenerational. We’re talking about a whole 50 years, we’re not saying 50 years but we stopped 20 years ago. It’s for everybody,” LL Cool J said of the star-studded segment featuring performances by Queen Latifah, Lil Wayne, Missy Elliott, Ice-T, Run-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Nelly and many more.
