Storylines

France: Thierry Henry’s team have the task of winning the gold medal back for France for the first time since 1984, but the French manager seemed already happy about what they achieved in the press conference before the game. In fact, Henry had to face multiple issues over the past weeks, considering how many players were denied participation in the tournament. “This event is special because in our sport you don’t think about finishing second or third, or winning a medal. So our story is a success. Let’s make it better,” he said on Thursday.

Spain: There are many expectations about Spain after they managed to reach their second appearance in a gold medal match after losing to Brazil and winning the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Denia’s side will have all the motivations on their side to try to win it for the first time since Barcelona 1992, when they hosted and won the competition.

Prediction

Henry’s team are the favorites and are expected to win the gold medal in front of their home fans in Paris. Pick: France 2, Spain 1.
