Who’s Playing
Nevada @ Fresno State
Current Records: Nevada 5-1; Fresno State 5-2
What to Know
The Nevada Wolf Pack have enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they must head out on the road. Nevada and the Fresno State Bulldogs will face off in a Mountain West battle at 7 p.m. ET on Saturday at Bulldog Stadium. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous games.
The Wolf Pack didn’t have too much trouble with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors at home last week as they won 34-17. Nevada can attribute much of their success to RB Toa Taua, who punched in two rushing touchdowns.
Nevada’s defense was a force to be reckoned with, as it collected four interceptions and one fumble. LB Daiyan Henley picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Fresno State kept a clean sheet against the Wyoming Cowboys last week and took the matchup 17 to nothing. No one had a standout game offensively for Fresno State, but they got scores from WR Jalen Cropper and TE Juan Rodriguez.
The Wolf Pack are expected to lose this next one by 3. Those who got lucky with them against the spread last week might want to hold off on placing bets this time since the squad has yet to string together back-to-back wins against the spread.
The wins brought Nevada up to 5-1 and the Bulldogs to 5-2. Two offensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Nevada is 224th worst in the nation in rushing yards per game, with only 85.3 on average. Fresno States have had an even harder time: they are stumbling into the contest with the 155th fewest rushing yards per game in the nation, having accrued only 129.1 on average. Yards on the ground might be a real commodity in this one.
