UEFA Europa League picks for West Ham vs. Lyon
Before you tune in to Thursday’s match, you need to see the Lyon vs. West Ham picks from soccer insider Jon Eimer. He is a high-volume bettor who has vast knowledge of leagues and players across the globe. Since joining SportsLine, Eimer has covered the English Premier League, Serie A, FA Cup and much more. The Indiana-based handicapper compiled a winning record of 260-133-1 with over 90 units of profit for his community on various platforms over a recent two-month stretch.
For West Ham vs. Lyon, Eimer is backing both teams to score at -130 odds. Both teams are similar in that their offenses are ahead of their defenses. West Ham United ranks fifth in the Premier League in goals but ranks just ninth in goals allowed. Over in Ligue 1, Lyon ranks seventh in goals for but 10th in goals against.
Since advancing from the group stage to the knockout round, Lyon’s games have become lower scoring, but both teams are usually finding the back of the net. Four of its last five UEL matches have seen both teams score and Lyon is the most prolific scoring team in the Europa League with 19 goals.
As for West Ham United, it could have a huge advantage if Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes can’t suit up. He ranks second in Ligue 1 in saves but was forced to leave early in his last game due to injury and isn’t expected to play on Thursday. He has 66 games of Europa and Champions League experience while his backup, Julian Pollersbeck, has just one such game under his belt. With Lyon potentially missing a huge defensive piece but also being the highest-scoring team in the UEL, Eimer is backing both teams to score.
