Alicia Keys will perform a special tribute performance during BET’s relief special Saving Our Selves for New York City, which currently has more COVID-19 infections than any other U.S. city.
Millions at home can enjoy exclusive performances by Usher, Jhene Aiko, D Smoke, Ella Mai, Buju Banton, Charlie Wilson, and appearances by Don Cheadle, political commentator Angela Rye, comedian Mike Epps, and British hip-hop stars Young T and Bugsy, who are behind the viral “Don’t Rush” challenge.
The two-hour broadcast will be hosted by black-ish actor Anthony Anderson, with Kelly Rowland, Regina Hall and Terrance J. Uplifting us with their anointed voices will be Kirk Franklin, Fantasia, Jonathan McReynolds, Kelly Price, and Tasha Cobbs-Leonard and more.
Saving Our Selves: A BET COVID-19 Relief Effort will also shed light on the virus’ impact in other countries, through talent from South Africa, France, and the United Kingdom.
The focus will be to combat the racial disparities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Studies have shown black and brown communities suffer disproportionately from the pandemic, causing harm to the physical and financial health of millions.
Various leaders in the creative, civil rights and business industries will also offer finance and educational support, courtesy of the NAACP and United Way Worldwide.
