Alicia Keys shares her new single, “Love Looks Better,” and explains her NFL season kickoff performance – Music News

Written by on September 11, 2020

Milan ZrnicAlicia Keys has unleashed her anthemic new single, “Love Looks Better.”

The loud, passionate and unapologetically vulnerable song was written and produced by the multi-Grammy winning singer, along with OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder.

“Oh, can we touch for a second? /Be us for a second/ Don’t matter what I give it to/ My love looks better on you,” Alicia sings over the song’s contagious melody.

Keys premiered “Love Looks Better” during Thursday night’s NFL season kickoff performance and after announcing a one-billion-dollar fund, with support from the NFL, focused on empowering Black America to continue the fight for racial equity.

In a powerful letter, shared with Billboard, Alicia explained that she almost passed on performing.

“My initial reaction was to decline because of some of the NFL’s past decisions,” Keys wrote. “Yet I realized I HAVE to use my platform, we all need to use our platforms, every chance we get to press for racial equity.”

She continued, mentioning Colin Kaepernick‘s resistance by taking a knee in silent protest against police brutality four years ago during NFL games.

“What is being accomplished by this performance and these new commitments are meant to deeply honor that this moment is a direct result of his courage and prophecy,” added Alicia.

“Love Looks Better” will be featured on her upcoming album ALICIA, which arrives in summer 2021.
