Why the Broncos can cover

Denver’s defense has been playing disciplined football to start the 2022 campaign. While the offense is looking to find its groove, the defense has shown its ability to lockdown opposing offenses. They are currently ranked fourth in the league in total defense (243.5), fifth in passing yards (165.5), and fourth in rushing yards allowed (78). Denver is also tied for third in the league in points allowed (13).

This group is able to get after the passer, recording five total sacks. Dre’Mont Jones and Bradley Chubb are tied for first on the team with two sacks apiece. Patrick Surtain II is a lockdown, press corner who can thrive in man or zone coverage. The Alabama product has fluid movement in his hips while staying extremely disciplined. He has all the tools needed to line up against a No. 1 receiving option.

Why the 49ers can cover

Garoppolo is the signal-caller under center for San Francisco again. Garoppolo brings a veteran presence to the field with familiarity with San Francisco’s offensive system. The Eastern Illinois product has a 31-14 record with the 49ers. Garoppolo can get the ball out quickly with his fast and compact release. He stepped in admirably last week, completing over 60% of his passes for 154 yards and a score.

Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk looks to become more of a reliable option in the passing game. Aiyuk owns great speed and explosiveness with strong hands. The Arizona State product is a legitimate threat with the ball in his hands. He’s leading the team with seven receptions for 103 yards, a 14.7 yards per reception average.
