Broncos vs. Raiders odds, picks, line, how to watch, live stream: Model reveals 2021 Week 16 NFL prediction

Written by on December 27, 2021

Two divisional rivals fighting to stay in the AFC playoff picture will meet on Sunday as the Las Vegas Raiders (7-7) host the Denver Broncos (7-7). Both squads are just one game back of the last Wild Card spot, and a loss could essentially end one team’s postseason quest. The Raiders prevailed 34-24 when these teams met in Week 6 and have won three straight in the all-time series. Denver is expected to start Drew Lock under center after Teddy Bridgewater (concussion) was forced from last week’s game and stayed overnight in the hospital. In select markets, you can stream the game on Paramount+.

Kickoff is set for 4:25 p.m. ET from Allegiant Stadium. Caesars Sportsbook lists the game as a pick’em in the latest Raiders vs. Broncos odds. The over-under for total points scored is 42. In select markets, Sunday’s matchup can be seen live on CBS and streamed live on Paramount+ with their must-have Premium plan.

Week 16 NFL picks for Raiders vs. Broncos

Before you tune in to Sunday’s Broncos vs. Raiders game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine’s advanced computer model. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up over $7,000 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 16 of the 2021 season on an incredible 133-96 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.

The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.

For Raiders vs. Broncos, the model is backing the Raiders to cover and win the game. With Bridgewater out, the Broncos are reluctantly turning to Lock, who started 13 games for them last year. He finished last among 35 qualified QBs in completion percentage and had the third-worst passer rating among quarterbacks who started at least eight games. However, Lock did lead the NFL in one important stat — interceptions — despite the fact he ranked just 20th in pass attempts.

On the other hand, the Raiders have stability at the QB position in Derek Carr, who ranks second in the league with 4,162 passing yards. Carr’s best game of the season came against Denver in Week 6 as he passed for 341 yards and two TDs and had no turnovers. The Broncos’ defense has been strong over the years, but Carr has seemed to have its number. He’s posted a 16:6 touchdown-to-interception ratio in his career against Denver, and he’s never had a single game with more interceptions than touchdowns across 16 starts.

The model says Carr will throw for 70 more yards than Lock, who is projected to continue his INT-throwing ways. With Denver’s turnovers giving the Raiders extra possessions, Las Vegas is projected to score nine more points than what Denver allows on average. Thus, the model has the Raiders winning by five points and covering in over 50 percent of simulations.
