Ella Mai was nominated for the Grammy’s Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Keeps On Fallin,” her collaboration with Babyface from his album Girls Night Out. They ended up losing to Beyoncé, but that’s OK: Ella’s busy prepping for her solo tour, kicking off in March.

Last year, Ella toured as an opening act for Mary J. Blige, but now she’s heading out on her own in support of her 2022 sophomore album, Heart on My Sleeve.

“It’s always amazing to be able to [be a] support [act] on any type of tour, and Mary is one of my favorites of all time,” Ella told reporters on the Grammy red carpet. “So when they asked me to [open for her], it was a no-brainer.”

But the singer notes, “To be able to headline my own tour and get back out to specifically my fans and be able to perform a body of work that’s so important to me is going to be really exciting.”

It’s been four years since she toured with her band members, who are looking forward to reuniting: “My band is excited to be back together and just really feel that energy from my fans and the crowd and be able to perform new music.”

Ella’s also keeping an eye out for future collabs. H.E.R. features on her debut album; Mary and Latto are on Heart on My Sleeve. She says she wants to keep that energy going.

“I want to do more stuff with females,” the British singer said when asked who she’d want on her next album. “I kinda just want to spread the women love. We’re killin’ it right now, so I would say any and everyone who is a woman.”
