J. Cole showed his support for an aspiring rapper by lending an ear to his music … in person. The rapper met up with Ty Trilly at a New York City apartment building, where he listened to the songs.
“Cole pulled up on me To hear my new s***, No Meetings in the city straight Raw block s***,” Trilly wrote on Instagram next to a video of Cole jamming to his music in his packed lobby. “Appreciate You @realcoleworld. It’s up From Here!!”
In the clip, Cole encourages Trilly to drop the song as is, despite his plan to create a second verse.
“Shoot the s***, put that b**** out next! ‘Cause they gon’ feel it. And they gon’ feel the next one, I swear to God,” Cole said. “I know what you mean, like, ‘Man, I probably need a second verse.’ No … just that! Shoot the video, put that … out, it’s gon’ land on the people it’s supposed to land on.”
The song, “Adapt,” appears to have been released on Soundcloud.
Trilly also shared footage of Cole giving him game, and encouraging his crew to come together and start a movement.
“It’s already a network over here … Just gotta come together, you know what I mean?” Cole says. “There’s too many people right here to not have the network.”
