After defeating the United States, Morocco are now one win away from guaranteeing themselves a medal at the Paris Olympics but there is a formidable foe in their way as they’ll be pitted against a tough Spain side on Monday. The Atlas Lions have gone right from a strong performance at the World Cup to their youth showing that the next generation is in good hands with their U-23’s plus Achraf Hakimi putting on a show during the Olympics.

Here are our storylines, how you can watch the match and more:

Storylines

Morocco: Led by Soufiane Rahimi, the tournament’s top scorer with five goals, the attack has become an unexpected strength for Morocco. Usually a stout defensive side, the Atlas Lions have been able to use Amir Richardson’s ball progression in midfield to connect Hakimi with a talented attack. It has paid dividends as Rahimi has already set a record for goals scored by a Moroccan at the Olympics but he won’t want to stop there with a chance to also secure the first medal in their country’s history.

Spain: With the Spanish women advancing at the Olympics, the chance is still alive for Spain to capture gold on both sides of the tournament. After a comprehensive defeat of Japan in the last round, Spain have been one of the most complete teams in the tournament. Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez has been a star in keeping the attack moving forward but Morocco can’t lose track of anyone in this squad or they’ll run the risk of being behind quickly.

Prediction

Morocco’s impressive run will come to an end with a defeat to one of Europe’s elite sides. Pick: Morocco 1, Spain 2
