Written by Luck Wilson on August 29, 2021
The San Jose State Spartans look for just their fourth winning season since 2000 and back-to-back winning seasons for the first time in nearly 30 years when they take on the Southern Utah Thunderbirds in a non-conference college football matchup Saturday on CBS Sports Network. The Spartans, who won the Mountain West Conference at 6-0 a year ago and finished 7-1 overall, have not had two winning seasons in a row since going 6-4-1 in 1991 and 7-4 in 1992. That capped off a four-year stretch with winning marks. FCS-level Southern Utah is looking to end a three-year stretch with a losing record.
The game is scheduled to start at 10 p.m. ET at CEFCU Stadium in San Jose, Calif. The Spartans are 27-point favorites in the latest Southern Utah vs. San Jose State odds from Caesars Sportsbook, while the over-under for total points scored is set at 57.5.
