Written by on March 29, 2022

.Saudi Arabia and Australia meet on Tuesday in an Asian Football Confederation Group B qualifying match for the World Cup 2022. Regardless of the outcome, the Saudis have Australia to thank for advancing to the 2022 World Cup. The Socceroos must find a way to bounce back from a deflating 2-0 loss to Japan that clinched the passage to Qatar 2022 for Saudi Arabia. These two sides have only faced each other three times since 2016, with Australia taking a win and two draws from those games. You can see what happens next when you stream all the action on Paramount+.

Kickoff from King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is set for 2 p.m. ET. Caesars Sportsbook lists Saudi Arabia as the +150 favorite (risk $100 to win $150) in the latest Australia vs. Saudi Arabia odds, while Australia is the +190 underdog. AFC World Cup qualifying picks for Saudi Arabia vs. Australia

Before you tune in to Tuesday’s World Cup qualifiers, you need to see the AFC World Cup qualifiers picks from soccer insider Brandt Sutton. Sutton, a former collegiate soccer player, has been SportsLine’s top soccer editor for nearly five years. He has followed soccer closely for much longer and factors in managerial tactics, projected lineups and past performances to make the most-informed decisions possible, keeping his finger on the pulse of the game all over the globe.

Sutton has also been on a roll with his best bets, going 12-5 in his last 17 picks overall and returning nearly $500 for $100 bettors who have followed his soccer picks.

For Australia vs. Saudi Arabia, Sutton is backing Saudi Arabia to win (draw no bet) at -125 odds. This means that he expects Saudi Arabia to win, but should the match end in a draw, the bet results in a push. Since the final round of AFC qualifying began in September, the Saudis have won six of their nine matches and only drew even twice. Leading the attack has been Firas Al-Buraikan, who has three goals in his last seven international matches, and Saleh Al-Shehri, who has found the goal in his last two starts.

Outside of a 4-0 win against Vietnam on January 27, Australia has struggled to come away with positive results. In three of the four matches it played prior to its most recent loss to Japan, the Australians took draws, including a scoreless tie against Saudi Arabia on November 11. Jamie MacLaren has been the Socceroos’ most dangerous offensive player, but he has only been in the team for four of their nine final qualifying round fixtures and wasn’t in the lineup for this final set of games. Without a concrete plan of attack, Australia faces a tough task against a Saudi team that has finished qualifying with strong play along its back line.

“Saudi Arabia has recorded a shutout in six of its last eight World Cup Qualifiers, which includes a 0-0 draw against Australia on Nov. 11,” Sutton told SportsLine. “Hervé Renard’s side has given up just six goals in nine qualifiers; an extremely impressive statistic.”
