Blogger Tasha K has apologized to Cardi B after her appeal against the rapper was rejected. She announced her loss in an Instagram post Tuesday.
“Damn Winos!” she wrote. “We lost the appeal against Cardi B sad day. But I’m gonna be alright. I appreciate all your love [and] support. Throughout this fight. Today we throw in the white flag. What happened will never happen again. To Cardi [and] her team, I apologize sincere. We live and learn.”
Tasha later tweeted she’s looking for a part-job to help pay off her acquired debt. “#iaintgotit but I’m gonna get it. @mcdonalds @wendys @burgerking any positions available,” she wrote. “i will do anything.”
Tasha was embroiled in a defamation lawsuit since 2019, when Cardi claimed she was running a “malicious campaign” aimed at damaging her reputation. The blogger had alleged that the rapper had performed sexual acts “with beer bottles on f****** stripper stages” and cheated on her husband, among other things.
Jurors eventually sided with Cardi, who was awarded over $2.5 million in damages and an additional $1.3 million in legal fees she incurred, and ordered the blogger to pull the videos from the internet.
Tasha, born Latasha Kebe, then appealed the verdict, claiming it was the result of “very lopsided presentation of evidence to the jury,” but judges upheld their previous decision.
“Defendant Latasha Kebe asks for a new trial, saying that there was insufficient evidence for the jury verdict against her,” the appeals court wrote, according to Billboard. “…She didn’t make either of the required post-verdict motions in the district court.”
“She never tells us where in the 5500-page record the district court’s alleged errors can be found,” they continued. “Because Kebe’s brief falls well short of what we require, she has abandoned this argument.”
