Video: Robbie Lawler checks on Nick Diaz in heartfelt moment after battle at UFC 266

Written by on October 6, 2021

Robbie Lawler was happy with his win at UFC 266, but his main concern after earning a third-round TKO stoppage was to check on his opponent Nick Diaz.

In a moment captured for the UFC’s Thrill and the Agony series, Lawler hugged Diaz after the fight then showed genuine concern regarding his well-being — both in and out of the octagon.

“Are you good in life?” Lawler said when speaking to Diaz. “That’s f*cking different. Let’s f*cking get there. You know what I’m saying?”

Prior to their rematch, which took place 17 years after the initial meeting, Diaz had made numerous statements about how much he doesn’t enjoy fighting and expressed confusion over why the UFC booked his rematch with Lawler.

Obviously, Lawler showed concern for Diaz afterwards in a heartfelt moment between opponents before celebrating his victory.

Elsewhere in the UFC 266 edition of the Thrill and the Agony, Valentina Shevchenko was all smiles after dispatching yet another contender in Lauren Murphy to defend her flyweight title. Shevchenko remains one of the most dominant champions on the entire roster with her latest win, while Murphy had to deal with her first loss in her last six fights.

Finally, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski retained his title after a five-round war with Brian Ortega.

Following the fight, UFC president Dana White congratulated Ortega for his gutty performance while telling his team to skip out on any post-fight obligations because the promotion wanted to get him to the hospital for treatment as soon as possible.
