Women of Color Expo Seminars: A Day of Empowerment and Education
The Women of Color Expo, hosted by the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma, is set to offer a diverse range of empowering and informative seminars. Scheduled to take place on [date] at Metro Tech Springlake Campus, these seminars are free to attend and promise valuable insights for attendees.
The event kicks off at 10 am with the Urban League of Greater Oklahoma presenting “Make Your Brand Pop” in the Auditorium. This seminar will delve into the secrets of tailored marketing and branding strategies that can set businesses apart. Topics include branding colors, fonts, logos, and professional ways to visually attract customers.
Sunbeam Family Services follows with their seminar “Building Brighter Futures for our Community” at 10 am in Room J. They will discuss the mental health stigma and supports available in the community, shedding light on their programs aimed at creating brighter futures.
At 10 am in Room C, the Riverside Gardens Cemetery seminar titled “There’s Something You Should Know Before You Go” will provide essential information on preparing for funeral and burial expenses, along with an opportunity for Q&A.
In Room D at 10 am, Attorney Jason Lowe will lead a session on “Know Your Rights,” focusing on what individuals should know when encountering law enforcement. This will be followed by another seminar by Attorney Jason Lowe at 2:30 pm in Room D, covering “Expungement” and everything attendees need to know to clear their criminal records.
Tinker Federal Credit Union will host two sessions on “Thriving on a Small Budget” at 10 am in Room B and 2:30 pm in Room B, offering money-saving strategies and tips for thriving even with limited resources.
Elizabeth Turner will conduct her workshop “Pretty Isn’t Pretty” at 10 am and 1 pm in Room A, diving into the concept of beauty and perception.
Presidental THC will explore “Empowering Black Women in Cannabis” at 11:30 am in Room J, highlighting opportunities for Black women in the cannabis industry.
At 2 pm in Room J, Sisters in Motion & Brothers Too will present “Adding Fun to the Mix of Fitness and Health,” encouraging attendees to engage in enjoyable physical activities for overall well-being.
Donna Thompson’s seminar “Women & Incarceration” at 2:30 pm in Room C will unveil the stories behind incarcerated women, their challenges, and the broader impacts on families.
Dr. Basheerah Ahmed will wrap up the day at 2:30 pm in Room A with her workshop “The Fit Mogul: Thriving in Business, Flourishing in Health,” aimed at ambitious women striving for a balanced lifestyle.
The day concludes with a fashion show titled “Alter Ego” at 5:30 pm in the Auditorium, showcasing different layers of women’s fashion.
